500 Strong

We're just getting started... both at Wealth Potion, but also the Creator Economy at large.

This week, Wealth Potion hit a big milestone:

500 of you are subscribed to the Wealth Potion newsletter.

I wanted to send out a quick message this week to thank you for your support of the newsletter, and the YouTube channel. I literally couldn’t have done it without you.

It is my sincere hope that through these emails and through the weekly videos, you are leveling up your knowledge on personal finance, wealth building, and business — and are able to apply this knowledge in your life to achieve real-world results.

And in this week’s video, I emphasize why now is the best time to join the Creator Economy:

Here are some my recent reflections, looking back at the past year of Wealth Potion:

Celebrating the Small Wins

As I’ve shared in the past, I dived head first into the Creator Economy and started Wealth Potion because I saw my wife’s content business succeed.

Perhaps it was a bit naive to expect that I’d achieve the same results she did, starting from scratch, in a completely different niche…

And although the last year has been difficult (not in small part due to my cancer diagnosis), it has been an amazing learning experience.

Looking back, it’s a bit shocking to think that I:

  • Recorded my first long-form YouTube video

  • Recorded and posted 50 YouTube videos

  • Wrote 50 newsletter articles

  • Appeared on a podcast interview

  • Met several successful content creators and Bitcoiners in Seoul

  • Made dozens of new friends and supporters online

  • I quit my full time job

  • I moved across the world

  • I beat cancer

Those are just off the top of my head!

But unfortunately, I still feel like it’s not enough.

I’m the type of person that always feels like they need to be doing more. I focus on the things I haven’t achieved yet.

Perhaps some of you can relate to that.

So when I hit 500 newsletter subscribers (and recently, 500 subscribers on YouTube as well) I took a few hours to sit back, journal, and reflect on the journey.

And I’ve found that celebrating small wins, and practicing gratitude for what I do have — is extremely important to stay motivated and focused on the long term goal.

In addition to reflecting on my past year, I reflected on why I’m so bullish on the Creator Economy in the first place, which is what I’ll cover next.

Content Creators are the Future

Content creation isn’t for everyone, I get that.

But having spent 10 years working at AI startups, I caught a glimpse of where the world is going.

Here are a few of my not-so-controversial predictions:

  • A LOT of knowledge work will be displaced by AI.

  • Companies will downsize by 50-90%, on average.

  • The amount of misinformation on the internet will increase exponentially.

  • Inflation and the debasement of our money will continue.

  • People will spend more time on their phones.

  • Mainstream media will be displaced by independent news sources.

  • Mainstream education will be displaced by independent educators.

And those are my tame predictions!

But even with those, they pointed me toward a simple conclusion:

The Creator Economy is just getting started. And Creators are going to play a huge role in the future.

Now, a couple caveats.

Firstly, content creation isn’t the only answer. Physical trades will likely be safe for a little while longer, until robotics becomes more sophisticated. Services businesses like recruiting and sales will always have demand.

But content creation scales in a unique way. Content creators gain leverage through their content.

When I first heard the stat that 57% of Gen Z want to become YouTubers when they grow up, I thought it was dystopian.

But the more I learn about the Creator Economy, the more I’m convinced that the future is much brighter than we expect.

YouTube isn’t just for memes and cat videos anymore. YouTube has Creators serving:

  • News

  • Education

  • Finance

  • Long-form podcast interviews

  • “How To” videos

  • Fashion guides

  • Makeup and skincare tutorials

Again, just off the top of my head.

Content creators are decentralizing the institutions of the past. The same institutions that people no longer trust.

Reflecting on Wealth Potion

I also reflected this week behind my “Why”.

  1. Why did I start Wealth Potion?

  2. What is my goal for the business?

  3. What is the outcome I want to help all of you achieve?

Let’s tackle these in order.

So #1:

Why Wealth Potion?

Well, one reason we’ve already discussed. I think the Creator Economy is in the first innings and I want to be a part of this movement. And I find it personally rewarding to help individual people as opposed to large corporations.

I also started Wealth Potion as a way to achieve my own version of wealth. I define wealth as:

  • Making a decent enough amount of money, such that cash flow isn’t an issue.

  • Being able to work when I want, with whom I want, where I want, and how I want.

  • Creating something that has a real, positive, tangible impact in the lives of others.

And that ties into #2.

What is my goal for the business?

For now, my goal is to replace my full-time salary when I was working in tech. I’m not using my peak salary from when I was in sales, since commissions are extremely variable, so my current goal is to get Wealth Potion to a solid 6-figures in annual revenue.

Beyond that, my goal is to impact as many people as possible. As discussed last week, I hope to find my 1000 True Fans who really resonate with my message. But I hope to touch many, many more — ideally millions — through my content.

And that brings us to #3.

What outcome do I want to help you all achieve?

I want to help you achieve your version of wealth. For many young people, I know that money is going to be central to that outcome. But as many of you get older, I suspect your definition of wealth will evolve. It will include relationships, freedom, peace, and much more.

Some of you may choose to believe in my version of wealth, but I think it’s even more important that my content inspires you to define wealth on your own terms.

If you achieve your Financial Freedom number… what would you do with your life?

I want to help you pursue both of those things. Your Financial Freedom number, but also you life beyond it.

I hope these raw reflections help you understand me and Wealth Potion better, and perhaps inspire some of you to start your own content creation project on the side.

As you know, I read all of your replies and I try to respond personally to everyone who reaches out.

So if you have questions, feedback, or thoughts whatsoever, don’t be a stranger.

To your prosperity,

Brandon @ Wealth Potion
